THE BONNIE BADGER WELCOMES BBC MASTERCHEF FINALISTS

27th February 2024

MasterChef UK Guest Judge Tom Kitchin Collaborates with Finalists for a Fusion Feast

On Thursday 21st March 2024, the three renowned 2023 MasterChef UK Amateur Finalists will reunite, as they face one of the judges that saw their potential in the culinary competition.  Chef Tom Kitchin will welcome the talented cooks to his East Lothian restaurant with rooms, The Bonnie Badger, as they join together to create a collaborative menu for one night only.

The meal is set to combine all of their unique culinary styles, brought together in a four-course menu showcasing a shared passion for food, fine ingredients and flavour.

The three contestants – winner Chariya Khattiyot, and exceptional finalists Omar Foster and Anurag Aggarwal, formed a great friendship during the competition.  The trio look forward to collaborating to create an exciting menu that is set to come together through a shared love of spice, while they pass the cooking of one of the courses to Chef Tom Kitchin.

As part of the culinary competition, Chef Tom Kitchin joined judges Gregg Wallace and John Torode, to put the amateur cooks to the test in the penultimate episode of the competition.  A special lunch at Core by Clare Smyth in London, saw the finalists cook lunch for Chef Tom Kitchin and a small group of leading UK Chefs, whom they impressed with their passion, skill and flavour combinations.  On Thursday 21st March, Chariya, Anurag and Omar will this time join Chef Tom Kitchin in The Bonnie Badger kitchen, coming together to prepare a menu, sharing the stories and inspiration of each course as they are presented to guests.

Hosted by Chef Tom Kitchin, the intimate event will give guests the opportunity to hear about each of the finalist’s stories leading up to their participation in the show, how they found the pressure of the competition and their incredible journeys since appearing on MasterChef UK.

After making the final of MasterChef 2023, the trio - Anurag, Chariya and Omar – have all hit the ground running launching their food careers. Chariya has since appeared as a judge on MasterChef Thailand and is due to open her first restaurant Khao Soi by Chariya in April 2024 in Hampshire. Anurag has been working as a motivational speaker and launched his culinary storytelling experience Yatra at restaurants across the UK, while Omar has launched a food consultancy business and is writing his first cookbook documenting his love of experimental Asian cuisine.

The event will begin at The Bonnie Badger at 7.00pm on Thursday 21st March, with a welcome drink and canapés, followed by a 4-course dinner, and tea or coffee, priced at £95.00 per person.

Guests wishing to enjoy a gourmet getaway can also book one of The Bonnie Badger’s individually designed bedrooms, where thoughtful luxuries are combined with the greatest comforts, and interiors showcase work from some of Scotland’s leading independent designers.  Rooms start from £195.00 per room per night, including an award-winning breakfast the next morning.
