WHISKY ON THE MENU AS THE BONNIE BADGER TEAMS UP WITH GLENKINCHIE TO HOST UNIQUE DISTILLERY TOUR & DINNER

7th February 2024

East Lothian Neighbours Partner to Launch Immersive Whisky Experience

Two leading East Lothian businesses have joined forces to create an exceptional experience for whisky enthusiasts visiting the Scottish coastline this winter.

On Thursday 4th April from 2.00pm, The Bonnie Badger in Gullane will partner with Glenkinchie Distillery in Tranent, to offer an exclusive Distillery Tour & Dinner, giving guests the chance to discover the wonder of whisky and sample some rare and exceptional whiskies, followed by a unique 4-course dinner inspired by Scotland’s national drink, showcasing some of the finest seasonal produce from the local larder.

The experience will begin with a bespoke Glenkinchie Distillery Tour, allowing guests to discover more about the renowned Lowland Home of Johnnie Walker, which was one of the first sites to have its visitor experience completely reimagined as part of Diageo’s £185m investment into Scotch Whisky tourism in Scotland.  Guests will be welcomed with a dram, followed by a journey through the unique sensory rooms.  Whisky enthusiasts will go on to gain an insight into Glenkinchie’s model distillery – the only one of its kind in Scotland – before enjoying a tour of the production site and finishing with the chance to draw from a cask in maturation and sample a taste of the iconic Glenkinchie 16-Year-Old distillery exclusive, which was made to commemorate the transformation of the distillery itself in 2020.

Guests will then be invited back to award-winning, The Bonnie Badger, where they will enjoy a decadent 4-course menu, creatively designed by The Bonnie Badger team that will explore East Lothian flavours and ingredients, while drawing on the unique tasting notes of Glenkinchie’s whiskies.  The dinner will also include an opportunity to sample some of Glenkinchie’s rare and exceptional whiskies.  Hosted by experts from Glenkinchie and the team from The Bonnie Badger, guests will be guided through the bespoke menu, learning more about the envy of Scotland’s local food and drinks along the way.

Guests wishing to sip and stay can also book one of The Bonnie Badger’s individually designed bedrooms, where thoughtful luxuries are combined with the greatest comforts, and interiors showcase work from some of Scotland’s leading independent designers.

Commenting on the whisky experience package on offer, Chef Owner of The Bonnie Badger, Tom Kitchin said; “There is so much to discover when it comes to the world of whisky.  Whisky is one of Scotland’s biggest exports and one of our proudest assets.

“Over the years, I have enjoyed learning more about whisky and indeed using whisky in my cooking in different ways, from creating a twist on a classic with a Whisky Baba, to developing full of flavour sauces in my seasonal cooking, to using sawdust from whisky barrels to smoke different ingredients, creating a really unique taste.

“Partnering with Glenkinchie has allowed us to offer our guests a truly Scottish experience and we can’t wait to welcome whisky enthusiasts to enjoy the best of Scotland’s outstanding produce.”

The package includes a welcome tea or coffee at The Bonnie Badger, transport to and from The Bonnie Badger and Glenkinchie Distillery, a unique 1.5 hour tour of the distillery followed by a welcome drink, a 4-course whisky-inspired menu and a post-dinner dram served in The Bonnie Badger’s stylish private dining room, for £220 per person.  Places are limited and reservations for the special ‘Distillery Tour & Dinner’ event can be made by contacting the Reception Team on info@bonniebadger.com or +44 (0)1620 621 111.
