Welcome our newest Premier Partner, LEMAC

25th July 2018

Midlothian and East Lothian Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce Lothian Electric Machines (LEMAC) as our newest Premier Partner. The company joins a group of existing Lothian businesses who hold Premier Partner memberships, a vital role where local business leaders take responsibility for actively contributing to, promoting and driving the Chamber’s vision and success.

For half a century Lemac have been manufacturing AC and DC electric motors, supplying solutions in an enormous array of applications such as shower pumps, industrial cleaning, catering, medical and marine. Haddington based Lemac also manufacture stairlifts on behalf of Acorn, the world’s largest stairlift company for worldwide distribution. Acorn currently manufactures in excess of 100,000 new products per annum and has thousands of satisfied customers globally. Acorn Stairlifts pioneered DC (direct current battery) and lithium battery technology in the stairlift industry. This was chosen due to the inherent advantages of safety, smooth power delivery and the ability to operate normally during a mains power failure.

Lemac are one of the largest employers in East Lothian, with an annual wage bill in the £millions. Their support to the local community is predominantly via the majority of their employees residing in East Lothian. They also employ local contractors to carry out services such as building maintenance, gardening, cleaning, catering and many other services.

Lemac Managing Director, Liz Blunsum commented on the partnership, “Like anything in business, you have to get involved and make positive contributions to create opportunities and grow success. Lemac are keen to strengthen commitment to the circular economy and we are looking forward to working more closely with the Mid & East Lothian Chamber of Commerce and their sister organization The Bright Green Business Network”.

Chamber Chief Executive, Keith Barbour said, “We are thrilled that Liz Blunsum and the team at Lemac have chosen to become our latest Premier Partner. The importance of the role our Premier Partners play in helping Mid & East Lothian Chamber to deliver valuable services and support for our members across the whole of East Lothian & Midlothian, cannot be underestimated.

Lemac join existing Mid & East Lothian Chamber Premier Partners: Anderson Strathern, Cameron & Co Chartered Accountants, Edinburgh College, Midlothian Council, The Business Partnership and The HR Dept.
