Gilmerton House Walks on the Wild Side with The House of Bruar’s Fashion Shoot

18th November 2018

Earlier this summer, Gilmerton House near Edinburgh was chosen by The House of Bruar for the fashion shoot for its new ‘Call of the Wild’ collection.

We wanted the Call of the Wild images to be different from our traditional images and show them in a more lifestyle, contemporary sense,” says The House of Bruar’s Marketing Team at the leading Scottish country clothing specialist.

We chose Gilmerton House because it has everything: beautiful, rich, opulent interiors, and beautifully picturesque exteriors which allowed us to showcase the new range at its absolute best. It was perfect for illustrating the collection’s russet reds, earthy browns, olive greens and dark purples.

We wanted to create a selection of boldly contemporary designs that reinvent classic country style for our new Call of the Wild collection.”

The new designs take House of Bruar into uncharted territory with a selection of contemporary designs that reinvent classic country style for the current generation. The collection captures the essence of modern town and country living.

The timeless beauty and romance of Scotland’s raw, untamed wilderness are evoked in a coming together of richly organic shades and hues taken from the landscape that surrounds House of Bruar’s Highland home - airy sky blues are gently warmed by russet reds and earthy browns, while deep olive greens and dark purples conjure images of heather-flecked hillsides and untouched woodlands.

The Call of the Wild collection is the result of more than two decades of hard work, and House of Bruar’s relationships with some of the UK’s last remaining textile mills. Their knowledge of expressive Pure New Wool tweeds and plaids can be seen in the collection’s wealth of details: intricate Grosgrain ribbon trims, leather football buttons and flashes of velvet.

With growing demand for beautiful locations for film and TV shoots in East Lothian, Gilmerton House has had its fair share of luxury retailers, film companies and magazines taking advantage of the stunning backdrops.

Gilmerton House has featured in the Railway Man, starring Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman. As a result of the Kinloch family’s historic links with golf, the house also played a role in filming Tommy’s Honour about the founders of modern golf, Old and Young Tom Morris.
