Develop your staff with funded training with Edinburgh College

3rd June 2021

Businesses and third sector organisations have until 31 July 2021 to secure free professional training worth up to £15,000 delivered by Edinburgh College.

The Flexible Workforce Development Fund, provided by the Scottish Government and managed by the Scottish Funding Council, allows businesses across the country to access training with the College to upskill or reskill their staff.

Now in its fourth year, the fund allows firms with an annual payroll of £3m+ (or apprenticeship levy payers) to tap in to £15,000 worth of training, while small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can access £5,000 worth of free training.

Funding can be used for a vast range of training including professional qualifications and professional development in areas such as: Mental Health and Resilience; Leadership and Management (including CIPD, CIM, CMI and ILM qualifications); Health and Safety (including IOSH and NEBOSH); Creative Industries; Computing; and Enterprise and Commerce; Hospitality and more.

As well as having access to a variety of structured courses, firms can also develop bespoke training programmes in partnership with the College. This includes designing new courses with our team of expert lecturers and associate trainers – ensuring all training is tailored to the needs of your organisation and your people.

In year four of the Flexible Workforce Development Fund (academic session 2020/21) to date, 256 employers have benefitted from £1.975m worth of training. Those organisations receiving training operate in sectors of industry including: Professional Services; Hospitality; Health and Social Care; Education; Creative Industries; and third sector, among others.

The application process to secure funded training is simple, with the College’s team of Business Development Advisors guiding partners from initial application, through to training programme design and delivery.

Jane Grant, Head of Commercial Development at Edinburgh College, said: “It’s been fantastic to continue offering funded training to a wide range of organisations through the Flexible Workforce Development Fund.

“As we come to the end of the fourth year of funding, we encourage organisations who are considering providing upskilling and/or reskilling training for their staff, to contact us as soon as possible before this year’s funding is fully allocated, and ahead of the 31 July deadline.”

The deadline for applications to the Flexible Workforce Development Fund is 31 July 2021.
