Bid Specialists to support the world’s largest sleepout

29th November 2017

Leading bid company is raising money to end homelessness in Scotland ahead of ‘Sleep in the Park’

Bidding and tender specialists, AM Bid Services, are taking part in ‘Sleep in the Park’ – a mass sleepout to raise money to end homelessness in Scotland on the night of Friday 9th December 2017. The event is being organised by Social Bite, a Scottish charity which seeks to alleviate homeless through employment, support programmes and temporary housing.

The company’s team of five (David Gray, Chris Blackburn, Callum Graham, Cameron Houston and Dane Thomson) will be joining 9,000 others, participating in the world’s largest ever sleepout, spending the night sleeping out in the cold, in Edinburgh’s Princes Street Gardens.

According to Shelter Scotland, there were over 34,000 homeless applications* made this year. Social Bite plan to use the funds and awareness raised from ‘Sleep in the Park’ to help eradicate homelessness over a 5 year period, by providing people with housing, rehabilitation, job opportunities and the support they need to get back on their feet.

David Gray, Bid Development Director at AM Bid Services, commenting on the sleepout said: “Our team is looking forward to what should be a great night raising awareness and fundraising for an extremely worthwhile cause. As a company led by two qualified housing professionals, we are fully behind Social Bite’s plan to eradicate homelessness in Scotland within five years. By spending one night sleeping out in the cold, we hope to play our part in ending homelessness in Scotland.”

Alan Mahon, Trustee of Social Bite, said: “The support we have received from the Scottish business community for Sleep in the Park has been fantastic. We’re delighted to have AM Bid Services taking part, particularly given their close links to the housing sector. Please dig deep and give generously to help us achieve our target of eradicating homelessness in Scotland.

Ahead of the sleepout, the AM Bid Services has been kindly supported by Livingston-based outdoor clothing specialists, Highlander Outdoor, who have helped the team through the provision of quality outdoor clothing and sleeping bags.
