ASSISTANCE FOR TRAVELLING SOLO WITH KIDS TRIAL EXTENDED

13th April 2017

EDINBURGH AIRPORT ROLLS OUT FREE SERVICE FOR REMAINDER OF 2017

Edinburgh Airport has today confirmed that a free trial service offering assistance for parents ‘Travelling Solo with Kids’ is to be extended for the rest of the year.

Adults travelling alone through any airport with children can be a challenging experience, whether it’s checking-in or collecting bags, going through security or just getting around the airport.

As reported in the Edinburgh Evening News and Daily Record, passengers who have experienced the service including Sophie Arnold, a Charity Administrator and Mother from Edinburgh, have praised it. Sophie said: When you have a tired toddler on your hands travel can be stressful. The support at the airport was a game changer – it really took the pressure off.

This extended trial service builds on Edinburgh Airport’s efforts to be the most accommodating and user friendly airport for families with a dedicated Family Lane in the Security Hall, soft play areas, children’s entertainment during the school holidays and at Christmas as well as children eat free in one of the catering outlets.

Kay Gillespie, Passenger Experience Leader at Edinburgh Airport, said: We are really pleased to confirm that we are extending the ‘Travelling solo with kids’ trial, following a very positive response from the parents that we assisted in February.

Travelling solo with children can be a challenging experience at any airport and our initial evidence suggests that a friendly face and extra set of hands can make a big difference. We look forward to helping more parents and people travelling alone with children through the airport in the months ahead.”

Gordon Dewar, Edinburgh Airport’s Chief Executive, said: We are totally committed to continually improving the passenger experience at Edinburgh Airport and this service offers a great helping hand to parents and adults on the move with little ones.
