Lothians Women in Business Luncheon

Our next Lothians Women in Business Luncheon will be held on Thursday 27th March at Newbattle Abbey College.

Organised by the Midlothian & East Lothian Chamber of Commerce in association with West Lothian Chamber, the event aims to bring ambitious women together to network, learn and grow. The Lothian Women in Business network is about building a strong supportive network for women in business through connection, opportunity, and community.

We'll be joined by Emily McGowan of McGowan Marketing who will dicuss How to gain PR for your business. 

Gaining PR for your business isn’t only for big corporations—it’s a powerful tool for small and micro businesses too. For female entrepreneurs in the UK, PR should be part of your wider business strategy. An effective PR strategy can play a huge role in a few key marketing areas, such as: Increasing brand awareness – especially to new audiences, Building customer trust & loyalti and Opening doors to new partnerships and growth opportunities.

Emily McGowan is a dedicated marketing professional and founder of McGowan Marketing, one of the largest marketing agencies in the South of Scotland. With extensive experience in strategic marketing and PR, Emily has played a key role in helping businesses across the region grow and connect with their audiences. Her agency’s impressive client list includes The Scottish Government, the Scottish Football Association, Scottish Borders Council, NHS Borders, and Dumfries and Galloway College.

In addition to her agency work, Emily is a passionate advocate for entrepreneurship and family business. As part of a family business herself — working alongside her mum and daughter, as well as one non-family team member — she has first-hand experience of the unique opportunities and challenges these businesses face. 

Combining her practical experience with academic insight, Emily is an inspiring speaker for those looking to develop their skills in marketing, PR, leadership, and business growth.
