Chamber Breakfast Club

The topic to be discussed at our breakfast meeting is “Funding Opportunities from Enterprise Investment Scheme”.

Enterprise Investment Scheme is designed to help smaller higher-risk trading companies to raise finance by offering a range of tax reliefs to investors who purchase new shares in those companies. The Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) and Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS) offer significant tax savings, but both involve an extremely complex set of tax regulations.

Anyone wishing to obtain EIS/SEIS relief, or to set up their own qualifying EIS/SEIS company, should take tax advice, not only at the outset, but on an ongoing basis, to ensure that all relevant tax reliefs are claimed, obtained (and retained!) and all opportunities grasped.

Springfords LLP have considerable experience advising EIS and SEIS businesses and investors. Fiona Donaldson, Private Client Tax Partner and Ian Haynes, Associate, both of Springfords, will be looking at the qualifying requirements for enterprise companies, at the various tax reliefs available to investors, and the main conditions, qualifications and restrictions which have to be borne in mind, as well as sharing some invaluable EIS “Tips & Traps”.
